Mentor Building

Project Scope for 6 E. Monroe - Mentor Building

This Chicago Historical Landmark Building Involves Steel Framed Concrete Cornice Restorations

Brief Project Overview

MUELLER & ASSOCIATES CONSULTING, LLC (MA) provided  inspection services to the building in 2005, as the result of violations from the building department.  After extensive investigation MA designed and oversaw construction of minor tuck-pointing repairs in 2007. In 2011 MA designed and implemented a complete concrete/terracotta/steel cornice restoration. The building façade is considered a landmark, making restoration extremely difficult in preserving all existing façade elements.  As part of the restoration, A plan had to be devised to remove and replace riveted steel outrigger girders that exhibited extensive deterioration.
